ICT & Inquiry - Investigations

Investigations is where students develop a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours that are needed in society within and beyond school through an play based inquiry curriculum. During an inquiry process children develop skills to question; plan; gather sources; sorting and sift through those sources; synthesize (put in own words) those sources; report back what they have discovered and then reflect on their inquiry.

Embedded within Investigations is the use of ICTs. ICTs allows both teacher and student to become co-participant and co-researcher in the student’s learning; that is, ICT can allow the child to be involved in decision-making processes that is conducive to them having a voice in their curriculum content and design.

The significance of ICT as a multi-purpose tool using a range of technologies helps to provide equality and inclusivity to children with diverse learning needs as well as respecting the individuality of all children.
